Camera excellent. Unlike many reviews, I did not find the flash pop-up a problem. However, as an expat living abroad & temporarily in England, I tooK advantage of the Free delivery offer to use a UK address. Was surprised to see I still had L 5.89 shipping charges. It would have been more honest for Amazon to have said this.

Only had this camera for a few days but initial reactions are that it is great! The quality of the pictures are amazing, so clear even on full zoom, and the HD video is brilliant - the fact that you can zoom while you are shooting a video is something I have never seen before on a camera. There are some really funky modes that take great fun photos like fisheye effect, and I love the colour accent which keeps one colour and makes everything else black and white.

There are also loads of manual modes for the more serious photographer - I don't know how to use these yet, but hopefully with a bit of practice I will improve my photography skills!

The flash does pop up when the camera is turned on but unlike one of the other reviewers I don't find it an issue. You can push the flash down if you don't want to use it, but you can still hold the camera quite comfortably if it is up.

I'm going on safari later this year and can't wait to use the 14x zoom to get really up close and personal with the animals.

I'd definitely recommend it.

I wanted a small camera that would fit into my handbag so it is on hand to photograph as and when a suitable subject appears. My previous camera, a Canon Ixus was great but I felt I needed a better zoom facility. The powershot certainly gives this and is as simple to use as my previous one. I love the colour - just a bit different to black or silver. The down side is that the battery from my old camera does not fit - a very very small difference in size - so I have purchased a spare for the Powershot just in case. This is quite an expensive accessory - pity they dont produce similar sizes for all their small cameras!!
 
Very disappointing for a Canon posted on 2010-08-08
I bought this 5 months ago to upgrade my P&S from a basic Fuji I have. I gave it 5 months so I can test it under different conditions. So here's the verdict.. For a Canon of £230 it is a very disappointing camera. Unless you have great light conditions the pictures are not the quality you would expect for this sort of camera.

The Pros:
-It's great for scenic photos like landscapes on a nice sunny day and sometimes in cloudy days.
-Big zoom but you have to have a steady hand or a tripod. Plus the more you zoom the more noisy the picture it comes out.
-The flash is quite alright and it's not as much hassle as other people have mentioned.
-Small, compact and easy to use.
-Big screen.
-Many functions including manual, fish eye and miniature which are great fun.
-Smart screen when you turned the camera around it flips the photo which is handy, especially with portrait photos.


The Cons:
-Colour and light/contrast saturation is really bad sometimes. The pictures come out with no detail at all. E.g. someone took a picture of me and my partner at a wedding and it flattened the picture completely, you couldnt' see any detail on our face and turned us orange..
-I read a review where someone mentioned that there's a green tint to the colours. I totally agree. I was at a wedding yesterday and I saw it on the wedding dress.

Conclusion: I wish the quality of the photos was better cause it has some great features but I'm thinking of selling.. very disappointed with Canon. My old £75 Fuji takes better pictures. Especially night shots.

Very handy camera to take and record enjoyous moments.
Have found many of the photos are not clear, slighjtly out of focus when printed. I shoot manly on auto for convenience.
I've not had the camera long so I guess I need to review the cameras capabilities and learn to shoot manually to obtain best quality. Looks like I have a learning curve.
